Study in Nairobi, Kenya

Minnesota Studies in International Development (MSID)
Kenya is a country of epic landforms that stir our deepest longings for this very special continent. Kenya’s geographic and cultural diversity make it a microcosm of the African continent. Spend a semester or a year in a country that shares the challenge of forging a multi-ethnic, post-colonial nation with its neighbors.

This program combines coursework with hands-on experience in a service-learning internship or research project. Explore the fascinating culture of Kenya while enrolling in International Development, Country Analysis of Kenya, Swahili language, and/or Community Engagement in the Global South. Academic-year students continue with directed research and an extended service-learning internship experience. You will live with host families in two settings—one urban and one rural. Explore a wide variety of perspectives within Kenya on this academically challenging and personally enriching experience.
